Bukaya is a village in Njeru town council (buikwe district ).The town is located across river nile from the city  of Jinja  in the east with an estimated population of about 81052 in 2014 by Uganda National Beaural of statistics,
The people of bukaya village are welcoming , hospitable and above all they love God due to the different churches around have introduced people to christ. The standards of living in Bukaya village are quiet low, thou there some people who have struggled to raise there standards of living by building permanet roofs ((house ) a certain percentage in the village has laid back to sleeping in temporally dwelling units due to high poverty ratio, low income , lack of jobs, single parent hood and other reasons

I was so touched by this family headed by  Naigaga Sarah who's 48 years old , shes a single mother ,her husband  left her with five children, the eldest child is fifteen years studying from bukaya primary school in primary seven and the second also in primary seven with fourteen years , the third is not studying shes 12 years old waiting the siblings to finish primary seven the she proceeds from there as the mother also is struggling to get money. Naigaga sarah gets her income from cultivating other people's gardens to be able to feed her family and also gets accommodation for her kids by keeping the above house but initially they had been thrown out from where they staying.

The most economic activities carried out in bukaya are live stock  farming on a small scale mostly for home consumption, fishing,  brick laying, animal husbandry. Due the the fertile soils in the region and the land is near the shores of lake Victoria this facilitates farming but some times the climatic changes and unpredictable whether conditions affects farming .They grow both perennial and annual crops for example cassava, banana, ground nuts, potatoes, maize, cabbage, beans etc.and these act as source of food in the region actually these are the most commonly eaten food types in the area
Due to the landing sites around the area it also facilitates fishing to be carried out , this helps the fisher men get some income also source of food to there families
The main source of water is bore holes , and pipe water and the main source of information in Njeru town council is radio , telephone and television but few people can afford to buy televisions . In bukaya village the main source of lighting is electricity, tadoba(small lamps) and solar systems and in most cases those with solar buy them on loan and the pay in insatallments to have able to have light as well as reducing on the loan
Accessibility to education in bukaya, children access education in the region due to the availability of schools both private schools and government aided  schools . government schools are known to be universal primary eduction and universal secondary education but there standards are quiet low though most families cant afford private schools there fore they take there children to universal primary and secondary schools were its quiet cheaper .The total number of children not attending school between 6-15 years is (3294) and the one attending school between 6-12 years is 27868)
In Njeru town council the  percentage of people who  have access to community services is 22.9 % and the percentage of orphans ranging from 0-8 years 3.8%  and the total number of children not attending school between 6-15 years is (3294) and the one attending school between 6-12 years is 27868)

Brick laying is another activity in the area and a source of income as well, this is mostly done by men and the students who have dropped out of school due to financial instability they resort to this to earn a living
Accessibility to education in bukaya, children access education in the region due to the availability of schools both private schools and government schools . government schools are known to be universal primary eduction and universal secondory education but there standards are quiet low though most families cant afford private schools there fore they take there children to universal primary and secondary schools were its quiet cheaper
